BEGINNING BREASTFEEDING: GETTING OFF TO A GOOD START
Breastfeeding is a learned skill for both mother and baby, and it takes some time to find your way. Knowing what to expect in the moments and first days after a baby is born is so important to feeling better prepared.
We’ll discuss:
*immediately after the birth: skin-to-skin and the first latch
*what if I have to have a c-section?
*colostrum: the first milk
*feeding cues
*establishing and maintaining a good milk supply
*sore nipples
*after we get home: expectations and realities
The question-and-answer format of this breastfeeding class will allow the discussion to be personalized to participants’ particular concerns. Bring your partner and come get a jump on the learning curve!

FINDING A BALANCE: WORKING AND BREASTFEEDING
Returning to work after the birth of a baby is a major milestone for a breastfeeding mother, and the details can seem overwhelming at first. With proper planning and support, and an understanding of what to expect, it can be an easier transition.
We’ll discuss:
* choosing a childcare provider
* your first week back to work
* expressing and storing breast milk at the workplace
* how much milk will my baby need?
* supporting your milk supply
* feelings about being separated
* nursing when you are together
Please note: This class is designed for post-partum mothers currently breastfeeding and preparing to return to work.

PROTECTING YOUR MILK SUPPLY: NURSING THE 6 – 12 MONTH OLD
The introduction of solid food into a baby’s diet is actually the very beginning of weaning from the breast, so it is important to get the balance right and support your breastfeeding relationship. We’ll discuss:
*biting
*nursing a distracted baby
*teething
*what, how and when to introduce solids
*nursing strikes
*sleep
Come share your questions about this important time and learn along with other nursing mamas! Babies 6 – 12 months only, please.

NURSING YOUR TODDLER AND BEYOND
The casual Q & A format of this class allows you to explore topics of concern with an IBCLC during this special time of extended breastfeeding.

Come share your questions and learn along with other nursing mamas! Mothers of babies 12 months and older only, please. While your child is welcome, we strongly recommend leaving your active toddler with a trusted caregiver during class time so you can benefit fully from the hour.
